Hailing from Antioch, Tennessee, Mookie was drafted in 2011 and made his professional debut in 2014. In 2015, he became the third youngest player to hit a home run on Opening Day for his club. In 2016, he was named an All-Star for the first time in his career. Betts has established himself as a strong defensive and offensive weapon throughout his young career.
